REDUCTION IN BRITAIN COMPARATIVE RETURNS Fimes Cable LONDON, Aug. 6 Tho agricultural editor of the rimes draws attention to a statement )y tho Ministry of Agriculture that thilled beef imported during the irst six months of 1933 amounted ,o 4,244,000c\vt., compared with 1,485,000c\vt. in the corresponding period if last year, before tho Ottawa arrangenent. Frozen beef imports totalled ,241,00, compared with 945,000; rnuton and lamb totalled 3,859,000, as umpared with 3,885,000; and bacon ,nd hams 5,174,000, compared with 1,144,000. The Times adds that while chilled •eef hitherto has been reduced 6 per ont, imports for the first half of the iresent quarter will bo 10 per cent ower than last year and per cent ower during the second half. Foreign rozen beef, mutton and lamb will be educed 20 per cent for the present uarter, with a further reduction in aeon and hams. The position of the Dominions cannot o stated accurately, but the necessity f implementing tho Ottawa agreelents, considered with tho estimated reduction, points to it substantial reliction. The Ministry estimates that he total imports will bo 18 per cent )wer for the present quarter than in bo corresponding period of 4932.
