DWELLING BURNED
FORMER MISSION HOUSE EFFORTS TO SUPPRESS FIRE [bt telegrafh —own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday A six-roomed house owned and occupied by Mr. Walter O'Hearn, cream contractor, of Gordonton, was totally destroyed by fire late last night. The fire was discovered in its incipient stages by Mrs. O'Hearn, and 'strenuous efforts were made by herhusband and the neighbours to suppress the outbreak. As no headway could be made, attention was directed to removing as much of the contents as possible, a quantity of furhiture and some personal effects being saved. The dwelling was at one time a Maori mission house. 3\tr. O'Hearn was cut about the fucfc and was burned on the arms. Guugall and occupied by' Mr. A. Haslitt. "Prompt work prevented the outbreak from damaging seriously a wash-house and dairy, which were under the same roof.
