ESTATE VALUED AT £5,272 Letters of administration in the estate of the late Sir Henry McCardie, the bachelor judge, have been granted to his brother. Dr. W. J. McCardie, and his sister, Mrs. W. A. Bindley. The accounts show the gross estate to be £6,806, and the net estate £5,272. Mr. Justice McCardie left no will, and an extensive search of his private papers failed to reveal any documents which would throw light on his wishes as to the disposal of any money left at his death. The fact that he died a Comparatively poor man, after having enjoyed for years before his elevation to the Bench in 1916 an income of £20,000 a year from his practice, is due to several unfortunate speculations. The late judge invested a considerab e amount of .money m a remarkable library of case reports and other books, and a valuable collection of pictures. His law library of over 5,000 volumes was sold by auction m lessen ap hour. The sum realised was ±.»UU.
