ROUGH WRESTLING
EXCHANGE OF HARD BLOWS MAMOS AND CLARK MEET [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] TIMARU. Friday In a thrilling wrestling bout, which opened promisingly, but later becamo very rough, Mamos defeated Clark this evening, the American being unable to continue after being back-slammed in the first few minutes of tho seventh round. Clark got the first fall in tho third round with a body press after throwing Mamos throe times with a series of headlocks. In tho sixth round both exchanged kicks and blows. The trouble started when Clark lashed out with a vicious left, which the Greek countered by sending Clark to the mat with a hard right. Thereafter both wrestlers mixed it freely, the refereo being unable to separate them. Mamos threw Clark over the ropes with a cross-buttock, and when they resumed Mamos was cautioned for his tactics. Clark threw the Greek three times with headlocks. The third time Mamos rolled under the ropes: Clark climbed after him and the pair came to grips on the edge of the stage. "When they re-entered tho ring, Mamos twice sent Clark to the ropes with heavy blows to tho faco, tho round ending with Clark in a painful toehold from which he escaped with a facebar. At tho beginning of tho seventh round Mamos picked Clark up with a backloop and slammed him hard on tho mat for a fall. Clark was dragged to his corner semi-conscious and was unable to continue when the bell sounded.
