TASMAN YACHT RACE

PLANS BEING PREPARED EARL JELLICOE INVITED MELBOURNE, Aug. 2 Plans for a transtasman yacht race during the Melbourne centenary celebiafcions next year are being completed by a committee of Melbourne citizens. Mr. F. liennell, in explaining the plans,, said the centenary race would bo frym Auckland to Melbourne, and there woidd bo a substantial purse, in addition to a cup. Two entries were expected from New Zealand, two from Sydney and one from Suva, whilo Melbourne would be represented by Mr.. Bennell's yacht Oimara. Mr. Bonnel! intends to cable an invitation to Earl Jolllcoo to bo one of the crew of liis yacht.
