SUSTENANCE FRAUD
MAN WITH £4OO IN BANK , H When Arthur Edwin Horc, iron ma* ehinist, was charged at Fooiscray, Melbourne, recently, on two counts of having made false statements to obtain sustenance, evidence was given that he had admitted to the police that he had £4OO in a bank and that he had obtained sustenance to the value of £6O. Hore said that as his house was mortgaged to a building society he re-~ garded the money in the bank as security against the seizure of ' the house. The magistrate said that to say that the money in the bank was not there because there was a corresponding amount due to a building society was ridiculous. Hore was fined £25 on each charge.
