OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP Somo more very good snooker wa« witnessed nt Phillips' billiards parlours last night, when L. Adams was defeated by W. McCowatt by two straight game* in the Auckland open championship. McCowatt potted brilliantly throughout and, in the first, game, his fast scoring put him in a comfortable position. Adams strove -vainly to reduce the margin, and required the last three balls to win. After securing the blue, however, he left a difficult pink, which McCowatt potted and won by S6 points to 89. Tho second game was evenly acored until tlio reds had gone. Adams, up to this stage, was having » little the worse of the luck. Then McCowatt availed himself of (in opportunity, and neatly cleared the table, to win by 58 points to 43. Good snooker should result to-night, when four of tho eight remaining players will be matohed. E. Burleigh will play R. Fredatovitch an'd W. Knott will meet A. Phillips. .
