BIRKENHEAD WATER SUPPLY
Sir, —Many months have elapsed since keen interest was shown in tbe borough by tho proposal put forward by the council for an independent water supply from Lignite Creek. With the approach of summer the same unsatisfactory water from Lake Pupuke will probably manifest itself. Devonport has taken steps to be prepared for the approaching summer by the installation of a purification plant, I believe. We in Birkenhead will certainly have to resort to "tanks" this summer at least. The citizens would welcome somo well-considered scheme to provide a reasonably pure water fiupply for the summer of 1934. A. C. Stack. Birkenhead.
