UNLICENSED RADIO SET
PROSECUTION AT PUKEKOHE [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Wednesday A charge of operating an unlicensed wireless set was brought against Albert Edward Lovett in the Pukekoho Police Court to-day, before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M. Defendant did not appear. F. R. Price, postmaster and deputyradio inspector, Pukekohe, said that a set had been purchased in March, 1931, by a man named Atkins. It was later sold to Lovett, whom witness questioned three times between March, 1932, and June, 1933. Lovett denied that he had the set and refused to take out a licence. In June last, together with Constable C. Sutherland, of Pukekohe, witness visited defendant's residence and found the set in full working order. "The set in this case was not a necessity but a luxury," said Mr. Levien. "There seems to be no excuse whatever." A fine of £1 10s with costs lis was imposed.
