ST. GEORGE CLUB'S, VISIT THREE GAMES IN AUCKLAND < SUB-CENTRE AT WAIROA Matters in connection tvith the visit to •Auckland of the St. George Club, Sydney, were discussed at last evening's meeting of ■ tho New Zealand Rugby League. The St. George Club advised that the tour had met with the approval of the board of control.' It was proposed to leave Sydney by the Wanganella on September 9. The chairman, Mr. C. A. Sneddon, said a letter had been forwarded to Sydney suggesting that four or possibly five matches should be played. The secretary, Mr. W, O. Carlaw, said he had mapped out a tentative itinerary which awaited confirmation.. It was intended .that the <visitors should play at New PJymouth, visit Rotorua, and play at Taupiri on the way to Auckland, where three matches are to be arranged. Mr. E. Stallworihy asked for consideration of a game at Whangarfti. The request of tho Hawke's Bay Rugby League for a match against South Auckland, holders of the Northern Union Challenge Cup, was approved. ROOPE ROOSTER MATCHES FIRST ROUND TO-MORROW The first round of tho Auckland Rugby League's Roope Rooster knock-out competition, which was postponed last Saturday owing to rain, will be played to-morrow. Two matches are set down for Carlaw Park, the curtain-raiser being between Devonport, the championship winners, and City. When the teanjs met in the final series of matches in the championship the City backs failed badly, but are expected to show improvement to-morrow. Should the backs play up to form City will have much, better prospects of success on, this .occasion. The chief game is hct.veen Richmond and Newton, and the appearance of A. E. Cooke with the former team should prove a big draw. Ho will undoubtedly greatlv strengthen a much-improved team, which should take the honours _in to-morrow's match. Two very fast exhibitions of the code are anticipated. The other senior match ii« between Marist and Polisonby, which will be played at Sturges Park and should provide a fast game. Lower grade competitions will be continued to-morrow. Following are tho teams: — RICHMOND Senior Grade.—Leo, Marshall, Bennett, Cooke, Prentice, E'ennett, Young.
