CYCLING DISPUTE
QUESTION OF CONTROL ACTION* BY FEDERATION AMATEUR COUNCIL SUSPENDED [BY TELEGRAPH —F> ESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCn, The dispute between the Cycling Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association and the New Zealand Cycling Federation regarding alleged interference by the federation in the domestic administration of amateur cycling came to a head to-day when the federation decided at a meeting to suspend the council. The meeting had before it a letter in which the council set out the conditions under which it proposed cycling in New Zealand should bo controlled. The last paragraph of the letter read: —"The council desires you to accept this communication as its considered opinion and in .the nature of an ultimatum. Fading the federation's acceptance of the proposals, the council will recommend amateur cycling bodies throughout New Zealand to persist in seeking recognition and, in the meantime, to disregard your federation." + To this letter the federation had replied that it could not agree to the proposals, and the council had sent a letter of acknowledgment. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Walter, moved that the Cycling Council be suspended for refusing to work with the federation. The motion was carried on the voices, and immediately Messrs. J. M. Coffey and G. R. Giles left the meeting. An application for affiliation from the League of Wheelmen was granted by two members remaining at the meeting, Messrs. W. J. Walter and H. D. London.
