NEW YACHT CLUB

FORMATION AT HERNE BAY A new yacht club, to be known as the Heme Bay Junior Sailing Club, has been formed at Heme Bay. Mr. G. Demies, who convened the meeting, said he thought the boys in the district should bo given, the opportunity to form a club and carry it 011 themselves. Last season many of the boys competed in the races held by the Richmond Cruising Club, but they had now expressed the desire to have a club of their own. Ho suggested the age of members should nbt exceed 18 years, as when they reached this age lie lelt they would be ready to join other clubs and take an active part in their doings. After the name of the club had been decided upoji the following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr. G. Hodgson; vicepatron, Mr. W. A. Wilkinson; president, Mr. C. M. Croft; commodore, Mr. 0. Dennes; ' viee-comniodore, Master (r. Hodgson; rear-commodore, Master W. Leylatul; secretary and treasurer, Master C. Dennes; committee, Masters R. Bell-Booth, T. Leyland, W. Haysin, J. Levland, G. Hughes, V. Fa'ire, J. Faire, D. O'Halloran, M. Cleary, AV. Fountain; starter, handicapper and judge, Mr. I. Dennes. Jt was decided that 110 restrictions be placed 011 competing boats except that they shall not exceed an overall length of I2ft. The ago of members was limited to 18 years and under. Tho club flag will be a white pennant with blue star in the centre. Races will be held on alternate Saturdays during the coining season. The opening was fixed for Labour Day, October 23. The club has already a membership of 50 racing members. The Takapuna Boating Club will hold its annual distribution of prizes and dance in the clubhouse to-morrow evening. The prizes will be presented by the harbourmaster, Captain H. 11. Sergeant. The Point Chevalier Sailing Club's annual prize distribution and dance will take place in the clubhouse 011 Sat 111®ay evening. Mr. M. J. Coyle, president, will distribute tho prizes. The Victoria Cruising Club will hold its annual meeting 011 August
