UNUSUAL ORDER

LIVE RABBITS WANTED An unusual order was received recently by a Sydney exporter. Australia has an unlimited supply of rabbits which, if not checked, overrun and devastate the lands, and have cost the country millions of money. An agent in Tahiti, in the South Pacific, asked for two dozen rabbits for breeding purposes, the explanation being that they were wanted for propagation in the island where growth is so luxuriant that there is difficulty in keeping the vegetation under control. Frozen rabbits are in great demand in Tahiti, tho French people particularly considering them a delicacv, and there is a large export to other countries, which helps a little in, keeping down tho pest. This is the first occasion, however, on which there has been a demand for livo rabbits.
