LONDON POLICEWOMEN
If present proposals are put into effect London's policewomen will at once bo more attractive, less feminine, and more deadly. They should be taught how to use firearms, according to the "Policewomen's Review" —and so become more deadly. They should have more attractive uniforms, declares Commandant Mary Allen*, chief of tho Women's Auxiliary Service, but —and this in a tone of severe disapproval—they must not have tiny "kiss" curls peeping out from beneath their helmets. "It is really rather disgraceful, Commandant Allen said. "Women police should bo disciplined in exactly tho same way as men. Hair should bo short and completely out of sight tflien 011 duty. "I have noticed the little curls, and I have noticed the obvious use of lipstick, too. It not only horrifies me, it horrifies visitors from foreign countries. Then again, tho uniform of tho metropolitan women police is all wrong (it is severely tailored in navy blue, with a short skirt, Sam Browno belt and high bbots). It was made to look like a policeman's uniform, but it would "lot bo difficult to find one that is smart, becoming, and feminine."
