INTRUDER IN HOUSE , A WEEK-END VISIT THREE OTHER ATTEMPTS About £1 12s fid was stolen by an intruder who entered the house of Mr. W. Reovcley, at 23 Kenyon Avenue. Mount Eden, between 6.30 and 9.30 on Sunday evening, while the occupants were at church. The house was in disorder when the family returned. Drawers wore pulled out and a thorough search had evidently been made. A one pound note had' been taken from a bag, and the silver had been removed from two small boxes. A missionary box which was found on the floor still contained a 10s note. Unsuccessful attempts were made to enter three houses in Epsom during the week-end. Chisel marks were found on the doors of houses in Manukau, Empire and Gardner Roads.

At that point the man's torch faded, and Mr. Bolton crouched down, crawled round the counter, opened front door and got a message sent to the police. The burglar escaped. There was a sum of about £SO in the manager's bag at the time. Just after the shop closed, a bogus telephone message had been received which had the effect of sending Mr. Bolton's assistant to another store, a mile away. The assistant went out through the back door, leaving it open, and there the intruder entered.

DWELLING RANSACKED CLOTHING AND FOOD STOLEN [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] MORRINSVILLE, Monday The residence of Mr. John Robinson, Piako, was broken into this morning when the occupants were away. The house was thoroughly ransacked. Among the articles stolen were a suit of clothes, an overcoat, 17s Gd in silver, and a quantity of food.
