Strugnell; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. C. E. S. Gano, U. M<Clinchie, J. Steward and W. Boyes; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. N. H. Cane; delegates to sub-provincial executive, Messrs. U. "That this branch views with consternation the reported recent statement of tlio acting-Primo Minister to the effect that he was definitely opposed to complete derating and suggesting that farmers thereby desired to dodge their obligations. We strongly resent the latter suggestion and wish to point nut that the Keform Party candidate at the last election stated that the 32} per cent rebate, made at that time, was the first step in the Government's derating policy. "That this meeting views with alarm the flood of applications being made to the Tariff Commission for increased protective duties, and urgently requests the Government's firm refusal, accompanied by a graduated reduction of 10 per l cent per annum. "That in view of a quota being placed on New Zealand produce to Britain, the Government be urged to njbolish tho duties on British goods entering this country."
