PRESENTATIONS
A presentation of a dinner service was made at the Central Police Station yesterday to Sergeant C. Gist, who hes been transferred to New Plymouth, after about five and a-half years' service in Auckland, He will leave tomorrow. In making the presentation on behalf of the detective and uniform branches, Inspector .1. Hollis referred to Sergeant Clist's successful service in the force, and expressed regret that lie was leaving Auckland. Several sergeants also spoke. A presentation was made recently to Air. P. Le Grico on severing his connection with Messrs. A. .1. Entrican, Sims and Company, Limited, after a period of 20 years, for several of which lie was a director, to take up another position in the city. The. gift took the form of a handsome silver tea service. .Mr. A. J. Entrican, in making the presentation on behalf of the,directors, emphasised the valuable services rendered to the firm by Mr. Le Grice, and wished him every success in the future. Over 200 residents of the Manawnru district, Te Aroha, assembled in local hall to funwell Mr. and Mrs. A. Barron, who, after IS years' residence in the district, leave for Matamata shortly. Mr. F. E. Hughes, on behalf of the residents, presented the guests of the evening with a chiming clock. The Misses Barron also received presentations from the tenuis and basketball clubs, of which they were both active members.
