The new craft, which has been designed by Mr. S. Ford, is a two-step hydroplane, 2-1 ft. Gin. Ifing, with a beam of 6ft. Gin. Her builders>laiin that she will bo the first of her particular design to make her appearance in the Dominion. The planking will be mahogany (two skins) and the frames will be of solid oak. The boat will be fitted with a ftOO li.p. Hispano aero engine, which will bo installed forward, with gear drive. The propeller will be geared to run faster than the motor, which, it is claimed, will give the maximum speed without unduly forcing the engine. She will be completed by October and will bo railed to Wanganui, where the engine will be installed and the official trials carried out. Mr. Freeman is a very keen motorboat enthusiast and is owner of Aoteroa and two other speed-craft. He represented AVanganui at the Masport Cup contest in Auckland last season. The cup was won by Jelo, owned by Mr. E. R. Lane, of Picton, who will be called upon to defend it at Picton during tho coming yachting season.
