v SATISFACTORY REPORTS INCREASE IN NUMBERS Reports as to the satisfactory increase of ehukor in the district of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society were- received at the last meeting of the council of the society. It was reported that the chukor liberated on the following persons' properties were doing well: —Mr. N. Rutherford, "Mendip Hills," Mr. W. W. Mcßae, "Glens of Tekoa," and Mr. H. Dampier-Crossley. It had been decided to advise Messrs. Menzies Brothers that at present the committee was not in a position to supply chukor, but to ask them to renew their application at a later date. My. Lawrence said that Mr. Todhunter, of Lako Heron, who had carried out a fairly extensive investigation over his property and over the adjoining country, had been amazed at the very great increase in the number of chukor and said that they appeared to extend from Ben McLeod station in the south to tho sourco of the Rakaia in the north.
