CENTENARY CELEBRATED
GREAT INAUGURAL SERVICE CONGREGATION OF 20,000 WHITE CITY STADIUM SCENE By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received July 10. 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 10 With the approval of tho Archbishops of Canterbury and York, tho centenary of tho Oxford Movement, tho great revival which profoundly affected tho history of the Church of England, was commemorated in London, as well as other diocesan centres and in most of the English parish churches yesterday. The celebrations are to bo continued throughout the week. Thera was a remarkable scene at tho Whito City Stadium yesterday, when 20,000 people attended tho inaugural service. It was tho largest Anglican congregation over assembled. Tho stadium, at which dog racing had been held on Saturday evening, had been converted into a consecrated area, with a magnificent altar, ornate pulpits, and a throne for the Bishop of St. Albans, Dr. 51. B. Furse, who deputised for tho. Bishop of London. Tho Primate, Dr. Cosmo Gordon Lang, preached in Canterbury Cathedral in connection with tho centenary.
