OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP A large crowd of spectators was present at Phillips' billiards parlours last night when some first-class snooker was witnessed in the Auckland open championship. The first game of the set between E. V. Roberts and J. Mundy resulted in a runaway victory for Roberts, who scored 79 to- his opponent's 15. The second game commenced with cautious play by both contestants, but Mundy (eradually drew ahead and won by 47 to 2G. The deciding game was fairly evenly played, until the middle stages, when Roberts again' took SJie lead, and won by the comfortable margin of 92 to 33. J. Black will play R. Marrinon to-night.
