SALARIES OF NURSES
NO CHANGE AT WHANGAREI [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI. Monday The Whangarei Hospital Board derided to-day that it was not prepared to make any alteration at present in the salaries paid to the nursing staff of \Y hangarei Hospital. The question was raised by a letter from the Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, stating that the salaries paid to nursing staffs in various hospitals in the Dominion had been recentiv reviewed, and there was a wi(,J«> disparity in rates paid. He submitted a scale of salaries as a guide to the boa|*d, and suggested an attempt should be made to standardise salaries. The chairman, Mr. J. N. M(Carroll, explained that the salaries paid by the board l in the junior positions were Rreater and in the senior positions less than 'provided in the scale suggested «. v the department. He moved that no alteration be made at present in the salaries paid by the board. This was I carried. *
