COMIC OPERA PRODUCTION
What is stated to be one of the strongest casts ever assembled on the local stage for a production under the auspices of the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society will take part in the forthcoming spectacular production of "Los Cloches do Corneville." Robert Gilbert Simmers, who takes the baritone lead, has had considerable experience in this type of work. The feminine lends are taken by Eva Simson and Ruth Scott, the first-mentioned having appeared in most of the society's most successful previous productions, including "The Belle of New York," "La Mascot te" and "San Toy." Miss Ruth Scott, who makes her with the society, has an important role, "Serpolette." The operatic orchestra, under the baton of Mr. Colin Muston, has been specially selected. "Los Cloches de Corneville" is a contemporary production of Gilbert and -Sullivan and is played as often in Franco as Gilbert and Sullivan is played in England. A season of nine nights and a matinee is advertised.
