Foster and her two Children leave Wellington this week for Auckland en route for the United States. . Mrs. Charles Levin, who has been tho guest of Mrs. Lan McEwan, Vincent Aveuue, Remuera, has returned to Karori. Miss Aline Barton, of Featherston, will Ifcave New Zealand on June 27 for Vancouver, where her marriage will take place. Mrs. W. M. Perry, of Market Road, Epsom, who left some months ago on B visit to England, via America, has arrived in London. ]Mrs. F. S. Mcßae. who has been tho guest of Mrs. P. Mcßae, Burroughs Avenue, Parnell, returned to Palmerston North last evening. The Otago Women's Club celebrated its 19th birthday last week with a gathering of bet-ween 300 and 400 members. The club was started in 1914. At a meeting of the Henderson branch of the W.C ; T.U., it was decided to pack a parcel of goods for the Willard Home, and books to the men's camp /at Taupo. Miss S. Alloway (Levin, New Zealand) recently passed the required qualifying examination to become a police' Nonstable in A Division of the Metropolitan Police Force, London. She ' is now a member of the force. A "500" and dance evening held at Waitangaru was very successful. The dance room with its open fire presented a gay appearance, and the evening attracted a large number of people. Novelty and old-time dances were enjoyed by all present. Mrs. Eccersall presided at a meeting of the Otahuhu branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. As it was White Ribbon month two papers were given bv Mrs. Burman and Mrs. est on White Ribbon work. Tea was dispensed by Mrs. Eccersall and Mrs. McArthur. - The roll call "Children's Sayings" provided much amusement at a meeting ,6f the Towai branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union. It was reported that good progress was being made with a knitted community quilt. Hostesses for tea were Mrs. Callam and Mrs. Doyle. At / a meeting of the Remuera Methodist Ladies' Guild the following officers were elected President, Mrs. Don; secretary, Miss Allnutt; treasurer, Miss Kent; vice-presidents, Mesdames Berrv, Carr* Blomfield, Addlington, White and Roberts. Afternoon tea was provided by Miss Kent and Mrs. Fleet. At the annual meeting of the Ellerslie Croquet Club the following officers Were elected: —President, Mrs. Christmas; rice-president-, Mrs. Gollan; secretary, ■ Mrs,? M. Richmond; treasurer, Mrs. Chapman; committee, Mrs. Gollan, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Russell; match committee, Mrs. Gollan, Mrs. McKelvie, Mrs- Bennett; delegates to centre, Mrs. Christmas and Mrs. Richmond. The Waiumauku branch of the Leajhie of Mothers held it" monthly meeting recently. Mrs. T. Charter presided over a good attendance. j: speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. Whyte "(Auckland), Dominion secretary 'for the League of Mothers. Her address was entitled "Running the Home on a Co-operative Basis." Mrs. Theo. Kerr Taylor was hostess for the afternoon. A variety programme was provided by a party of city artists at a concert held in the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Hall, Otahuhu, on Thursday evening. A large audience appreciated a well-balanced programme. The opening items were solos, duets and quartets rendered by Mrs. Rattray, Miss, Kersey, and Messrs. G. Spicer and, W. Gemmell. The accompaniments were played by Mrs. Dollar, and humorous items contributed by Mr. A. Dollar. The concluding part of the programme was devoted to a short play, "The New Provost," by the entire party. "I feel strongly that we women of Christchureh should take steps to establish cookery classes for married women," said Mrs. T. Hill, representative of the Metropolitan Relief Association, at a meeting of the • Women s Anxiliary of the Business Men's G°™T mittee. She said she had recently visited homes where the families were badly fed, although they received plenty of good food. Illness and misery were the result of women being unable to c6ok and to keep their homes clean and tidy. Much good was being done at the cookery centres for unemployed Rirls, Mrs. Hill said, but it was married women even more than girls that needed to be taught how to cook.

Osman, Eileen Mills, Greta Gee. Paula Hand, N. Dean, M. Hutt, J. Wilson, E. Frost, Thelma Dwerryhouse, L. Stewart and iR. Morpeth. The first of a series of fortnightly fcard afternoons, arranged by the St. Oswald's Ladies' Guild, was held on Wednesday at the Church Hall, One Tree Hill* and proved an outstanding Success. Prizes were won by Mrs. Fowler and Mrs. Sharp Among those present were Mrs. Darby, Mrs. Burgess, Mrs. Simpson, Mrs. Hollingsworth, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Coombe, Mrs. Oldale.
