RETURNED SOLDIERS
OTAHUHU CLUB'S YEAR
The seventh annual meeting of tho Otahuhu Returned Soldiers' Club was
held on Friday evening, the president, Mr. R. V. Closoy, presiding over a large attendance.
A record year of activity was reported by tho president. There had been an increase of 39 members. The Canteen and Regimental Trust Board had made grants for the assistance of distressed members, a total of £75 having been received in the ' past few months. Subsidised employment had been found for a number of men through theso grants, and additional sums of £25 had been received from the National War Council funds. During tho year £BB had been expended from the club's Poppy Day fund in grants to sick and necessitous returned men. Tho collection this year had yielded the sum of £lO5, this being a record in view of the restricted area covered by collectors. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £9l "and the general fund £2 15s. The assets were £l4B. There were no liabilities. *
The following officers elected: President, Mr. H. V. Closey; vicepresident, Mr. M. J. Barrett; secretary, Mr. L. Buckley; treasurer, Mr. (!. Bishop; auditor, Mr. 11. W. F. Wood; executive, Messrs. W. Best, W. Bright, W. Lovatt, K. Lippiatt, G. Molland, C. 10. Killicit; investigation conimitteo, Messrs. L. Havill, G. Nixon aiid 11. Littler.
