NEW EDITION OF A FINE BOOK T All interested in the early history of Jsew Zealand will be glad to know that Mr. Lindsay Buick, C.M.G., has "published a second edition of his wellknown book " The Treaty of Waitangi." It is not a reprinting of the first, which was issued in 1914, but a now edition, very largely rewritten in the light of knowledge become accessible since then. Some earlier judgments, consequently, are revised, and the whole book has greater value as well as interest. In an additional appendix are. includod documents related to the gift of the treaty site to the people of tho Dominion by Their Excellencies the Governor-Goneral and Lady Bledisloe. Tho book is excellently printed, a Bpccial feature being the tasteful reproduction of portraits, drawings and documents. Among the documents is a reduced facsimile of one of the sheets of the treaty. Possessors of the earlier edition will all wish to have this superseding revision, and many others be eager to learn " how Now Zealand became a British colony," as the subtitle of the book explains its scope.
