A SIMPLE PATTERN A delightfully rosy and well-fitting pair of bedroom flippers may he made according to tho following directions. Tho pair described is meant to lit a child of three, but a little practice would enable one to increase to any size required. For the sizo mentioned, however, you need only ljoz. of four-ply fingering, 0110 yard of narrow ribbon, a pair of felt solos, size eight, and a No. 8 bouo crochet hook. Begin at the toe. Mako 3 ch., join into a ring. Ist rd.—G d.c. into ring; join with sl.st., 1 ch. 2nd rd.—Work 2 d.c. into each st. 3rd rd.—Work 2 d.c. into every 3rd st., and one in between. 4th rd.—Samo as 3rd rd. (20 d.c. altogether). 6th to 13th rds.— 1 d.c. into each st. (This makes front of shoe.) For the back, work on 14 sts. only, leaving tho other 6 to form the instep. Work 1 d.c. into each of the 14 sts., and work backward and forward for 17 rows. Break off. Sow up tho edges of the last row at tho back to form tho heel. For edging, join wool at back and work 1 eh., 1 tr., 1 ch. all round to make slots for the ribbon. 2nd rd. — 1 d.c. into each. space and also on each tr. 3rd.— * 3 ch., miss 1 st.., sl.-st. into next. Rep. from * all round. Break off. Sew on tho soles, with back-stitch-ing for firmness, following the line of machine stitching already on soles. Thread ribbon through slots and tie in a bow in front..
