DYING MAN'S WISH

PICTURE OF BIRTHPLACE FILM ARRIVES TOO LATE To satisfy the wish of a dving man a film was recently made of the village of Kirkburton, near Huddersfield> Yorkshire, and sent to San Diego, California. Mr. Joseph Jesson, of San Diego, commissioned the film shortly before ho died, a year ago, but did not 'live long; enough to see the village of his boyhood shown on the screen. Another wish that his death prevented iier« ! being fulfilled was that of hearing the Kirkburton Church bells on a gramophone record. Mr. who was formerly a hand-loom weaver at Kirkburton, vent to San Diego aftfer running a successful jewellery business at St. Annes-on-Sea, and there founded the firm or Joseph Jessop and Sons, which int l " matcly became the largest jeweller, firm west of Chicago. Ho died at the ago of 70 a very wealthy man. The Jessops In America had a tin made of and their su - roundiugs in California, and sent it ' members of the family who are s living at Kirkburton. About 50 re. tives and friends saw the film shown Huddcrsfield a few weeks ago.
