FIGHT WITH A LION Heroism of a man who fought a lion with his bare hands wliilo it was attacking his comrade has been disclosed in tho London Gazette. The King has approved of the posthumous award of the medal of tho Civil Division of tho Order of tho British Empire to tho late Reginald Montaguo Gray, clerk to the magistrates in N'gainiland, Bechuanaland, for gallantry. The circumstances arc officially described as follows:—While on an expedition in August last Mr. Gray attempted to save a comrade from a wounded lion. Mr. Gray, who had as bis only weapon an empty shot-gun, clubbed the lion, which had attacked bis companion, until tho gun broke. Ho then tried, while kicking the animal, to pull it away with his hands. The lion was eventually shot by a third person. . Mr.' Gray died a few days later as a result of shock.
