RIFLE SHOOTING
AKARANA DEFEATS CITY The Akarana and City Defence Rifle Clubs fired a match under service conditions at Penrose last Saturday. The match was eight men a side, and tlie practices seven rounds application, ten rounds rapid and ten rounds snap shooting at 300 yards, followed by six rounds at the moving figure and five rounds at falling plates at 200 yards. Akarana won easily by 19 points. The scores were:— Akarana.—Devore. 14G; Wakefield, 123; Jcnkinson, 120; Reston, 114; Bevan, 110; Colquhoun, 108; Parry, 9G; Findlay. 88. City.—Simmonds, 119; Pring, 144: Chirk, J26; Swift, 121; Russell, 110; Bowes, 107; Jessop, 83; Yerrall, 51. Others who shot were:—Knight, 101; M. Milligan, 84; A. Milligan, 7G. DEVONPORT MINIATURE CLUB There was a good attendance at, the Devonport Miniature Rifle Club's filial handicap trophy shoot last evening, the winner being C. Nealie with an aggregate score of 209, this being one point off the possible. H. Judkins won tho Tisdall Button for the week. Following were best scores, the possible being 70: —C. Nenlie, (57, 3—70; F. Smith, G4, 9—70; 11. Judkins, G9, scr—69; B. Rutledge, 66, 3—69; W. Walsh, 63. G—69; D. Franklin, G3, G—69; A. Griffith, 62, 6—68; H. Tattersfield, 63, S—GB; C. Oliver. 62. 5—G7; B. Dow, 62. 4—66; C. Ironmonger, 59. 6—65; C. Jnlfon, 58. G—64: J. Vickers, 59, 3—62. Another handicap competition will commence next Monday.
