EXTRACTS FROM THE HERALD The following are extracts from the New Zealand Herald of June 13, 1883: The advocates of marriage with a deceased wife's sister have scored a victory in the House of Lords. The bill for legalising marriages of this kind has been read a second time by. a majority of seven, and there is every prospect or its becoming law. The prominent support which the members of the Royal Family have given to the measure has occasioned a good deal of talk. The Department of Agriculture, which is to be added to the Government, is to employ a new Minister, and not merely to be tacked on to the duties of any of the present Ministers. . A curious relic has recently been discovered in the City Treasurer's othcelt is no other than the reply of U.K.tithe Duke of Edinburgh to the address presented to him by the City Board or Commissioners, Auckland, on his arriva here, and it is dated May 11, 18by. the document has appended to it tfl autograph of His Itoyal Highness, i is strange that so little attention should have been paid to its safe custody*
