SPORT OF SKI-ING
DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS At a recent meeting of the ski council of the Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand, set up for tha purpose -of organising the sport on a national basis, many matters of interest to skiers were dealt with. It was decided to hold the New Zealand ski championships at Mount Cook in August. The Ruapehu Ski Club, having offered two of its trophies, the New Zealand championship trophy and the Major Head Cup, foj- competition, it was proposed, subject to the clubs' approval, to award the former for the combined downhill and slalom championships, under the title of the New Zealand skirunning championship, and the latter for the jumping championship. The Australian National Ski Federation wrote accepting the council's invitation to send an Australian team to the championships, but stating that 110 solection of personnel could yet be made. Messrs. J. C. .Robertson and It, rfvme, of the Ruapehu Club, intimated their intention of attending the Australian ski championships at Kosciusko at the beginning of August and were appointed to represent New Zealand, [t was decided to invite further applications from suitable skiers to join tho team. _ , The committee appointed to draw up a scheme for ski tests reported favour of the adoption of the British ski tests and the report and the tests, slightly altered to meet New Zealand conditions, were approved and adopted. The existing committee, Messrs. H. Elworthy, J. C. Robertson and G. W. A. Day, were reappointed the technical committee of the council to administer the scheme.
