TO DEVIL'S ISLAND
EGYPTIAN BRIGAND SENTENCED FOR 13 CRIMES (Received May 21, 5.5 p.m.) NICE, May 20 Mohamed Amid, known as " the lightning bandit," said to be the son of a high Egyptian official, was sentenced to-day at Nice to 20 years' imprisonment with hard labour on Devil's Island. The man was charged with 13 crimes, including an attempted murder in 1932.
