Guinness, president of the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club, interviewed the president of the 2»ew Zealand Racing Conference and made representations concerning tli£ club's lequest for an additional day's lotalisator permit so as to enable the club to hold a two-day meeting. It is tmderstood that tho request will come up for consideration at the annual meeting of the Racing Conference. Hie club has let a contract for improvements to a portion of, the racing track on the racecourse reserve at Gate Pa. The work will comprise tlie cutting down of the hill on the curve near the entrance to the straight and utilising the epoil as filling for the slight depression on the bend. The length to be dealt with will be eight chains. MEETING ABANDONED HORORATA CLUB'S DECISION [by TELEGRAPH OWN" correspondent] GpRISTCHURCH, Wednesday The Hororata Racing Club lias decided to Abandon its race meeting this season as a suitable date is not available. It is understood that Munro's retainer is high and that he will first of all ride at Poona and then at Bombay and Calcutta.
