SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED
NEW ZEALANDER'S SUCCESS [JIV TKMiGHAriT —OWN COIUtKSrONDKNT] WELLINGTON, Tuesday Dr. C. M. Fockeu, who has been awarded a scholarship at the Colorado School of Mines, is lecturer in physics at Otago University. Ho graduated in Now Zealand and then went to Melbourne University. The scholarship has been awarded to Dr. Focken under the Commonwealth Fund Fellowship, a New York philanthropic foundation, existing since 1918 and supported by gifts from the lato Mrs. Stephen V., Harkness. It was established for British subjects and provides a number of fellowships at American universities. Not fewer than two nor more than livo of these fellowships have been allocated for 1933 to persons holding appointments overseas under the British Government, the Government of India, or tho Government of a British Dominion, colony, protectorate or mandated territory.
