Although figures are not available for many countries, there are some striking contrasts in the amount of meat Consumed by.the inhabii ants, of the various countries. Germanycatamore pork than beef, France more Jjeef' than pork and neither anyconsiderable quantity of mutton, their aggregate consumption of all meats being approximately UOlb. and 001b. per head.
