BIBLES FOR THE PEOPLE
GOOD WORK OF SOCIETY The work of the British and Foreign Bible Society will be referred to in many churches next Sunday, which is known as "Bible Sunday." For 129 years the society lias been buying copies of the Bible from tho three companies which have tho right to print the Holy Scriptures and distributing them throughout the world. The society gives the Bible without any charge to schools, hospitals, mental hospitals, refuges, soldiers and sailors, the blind, and the natives in every land, and in the language they can best understand. It also sells copies of the Book and in every possible way tries to place tho Bible in the hands of all people. In about 600 forms of speech tho Biblo is printed and circulated. The Auckland auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society will hold its annual meeting in the Town Hall concert chamber on the evening of Thursday, May 31. Archbishop Averill will preside and special addresses will be given by the Rev. David Calder and Mr. K. Melvin.
