POTATO RECIPES
LORD BLEDISLOE'S PRIZES About a year ago tho Governor-Gen-eral, Lord Blcdisloo, made an ofl'er to tho Wellington Horticultural Society to award three prizes, £2 2s, £1 Is and 10s Gd, for the greatest number of comestibles made from potatoes, but not from potato flour. Tho prizes were first competed for at the society's annual autumn show last week, when there were nine entries, comprising over 72 exhibits. These included potato broad, pics, puddings, savouries, cakes, scones, pastes, soups, etc., and looked most dainty anil appetising. The awards were as follows:—Mrs. G. Atkinson, 1; Mrs. G. Luke, 2; Mrs. W. S. McPherson, 3. Miss Jennie, of the Wellington Technical College, who judged tho class, reported that the display was highly creditable and the contests very close..
