TEMPER IN THE BOX Joseph Henry Bentley, aged 26, a medical student at Middlesex Hospital, went into a telephone box at the Aldersgate Railway Station on February 2'< i for the purpose of ringing' up his father. He bad difficulty in " getting through " and ho became angry. He banged the receiver down on to the transmitter so violently that it was damaged. A railway porter who saw the incident called the police, with the result that at the police court the next day Hcntlcy had to pay £;5 19s 5d for that telephone call, lie was fined '2os for wilfully damaging the receiver, ordered to pay £2 2s costs, and 17s 5d to make good the damage.
