FLIGHTS TO AUSTRALIA
ITALIAN NOT REPORTED SILENCE AFTER ALEPPO (Received April 12. 11.15 p.m.) LONDON. April 12 The Italian airman, Captain Leonida Robbiauo, who left on Saturday on a flight to Australia, has not been reported since he left Aleppo on Sunday. AUCKLAND AIRWOMAN MISS BATTEN'S PROGRESS ALEPPO, April 11 Miss Jeau Batten, the Auckland girl who is on a flight to Australia, arrived at Aleppo to-day at 12.30 p.m. and left again at 4.30 for Bagdad, Irak. FINANCIAL ASPECT FIANCE'S ASSISTANCE LONDON. April 11 Miss Batten's fiance," Mr. Victor Doree, in an interview in London, said: "I met Jean at the London Aero Club in 15)32. She has been scraping for nearly two years to finance the flight and has deprived herself of frocks, used cheap face powder and dispensed with luxuries. "We own the machine jointly. It was purchased through the Prince of Wales' pilot, Flight-Lieutenant E. H. Filden. We are sharing the cost of the flight, which is about £900."
