WOMEN'S DIVISION

FARMERS' UNION The annual meeting of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, which, was held last week at Putaruru, was exceptionally well attended. Several remits were framed for the forthcoming conference, the subject matter including telephone rentals, penalties for sexual offences, importation of Canadian egg-pulp and the support of New Zealand versus British manufactures. Mrs. Leslie gave a few details in connection with the recently-instituted Women's Division of the Farmers Union publication which has been designed with the object of making public the general activities of the organisation throughout the Dominion. Members present signified their desire to support the paper, twenty-four copies being ordered. The balance-sheet for the year was presented and finally adopted. The rest room fund now stands at approximately £l9O. Mrs. H. Baldwin read a report or the work done in connection with the housekeeping scheme paying a tribute to the good work done by the resident housekeeper. . 1 The president, Mrs. Leslie, outlined the work done during the past year and was accorded a hearty vote of- thanks for her share in that work, general regret being felt in her desire to withdraw from re-election. Following is a list of the officers elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs. Duxfield; vice-presidents, Mesdames Leslie, Aliwood, Campbell and Sneddon; honorary secretary, Mrs. Brown; joint treasurers, Mesdames Henshaw and Mason; corresponding secretary, Miss E. Bowman; committee, Mesdames Rutledge, G. G. Ranger, Shine, Addenbrooke and Truss; exchange committee, Mesdames Scott, Sanders and Rutledge. All the junior members were enrolled as a separate committee to help in the dances arranged during the coming year. Later Mrs. Shine sang and tea was served.
