GALE OFF THE COAST

A south-easterly gale and heavy seas were encountered bv the motor-ship Orari, which reached Auckland from Liverpool yesterday, when she rounded North Cape on Tuesday night, and commenced to run down the coast. It is expected that the cruiser Diomede, on which tho Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe left on their island cruise on Tuesday afternoon, would experience the same rough weather that night.
