BALLOON IN FLAMES THREE OF PARTY BURNED (Received April 9, 5.5 p.m.) CALCUTTA. April 8 Dr. Gupta, an Indian meteorological officer attached to the Houston Mount Everest aerial expedition, and his two assistants, were severely burned when a hydrogen observation balloon burst into flames as it was about to bo released for a reading to be taken of wind-strength at high altitudes. The fliers are sweltering in a temperature of 103 degrees in the shade. High winds are still preventing further flights. An attempt was to have been made to-day but it had to be postponed.
