MUSIC AT FATAL FIRE

An old-fashioned musical bos played a lively tune amid the flames when a cottage caught fire at Sheffield recently. The occupant of the house, Mrs, Minnie Cross, was so severely burned that she died in hospital. The fire was discovered by a neighbour's 12-year-old son. A fire brigade was called, and while the flames were being quailed one of the fireman caught his foot on the old musical box in a room. The box at once began to play. Neighbours state that Mrs. Cross was a woman of good education. She had lived alone for 20 years. She was an accomplished pianist. Copies of musio and ' newspapers dating back 40 years filled drawers and cupboards in the house.
