UMBRELLA CAUSES DEATH

How a girl was killed while holding up an open umbrella while cycling was described at Oxford Police Court, England recently. Reginald F. Howse, of St. John Street Oxford, pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving, and driving without due cave and attention. Tho girl was Miss Evelyn Hedges, aged 22, and she was returning homo after> visiting her fiance. Witness for the prosecution said it was a wet night, and Miss Hedges, who was wearing a long mackintosh, was carrying an open umbrella and a handbag. Howse told tho police that he saw nothing until the umbrella loomed up in front. The next second he hit something. The charges were dismissed. j .
