Britain.
Sir John is 51. Sir Geoffrey, who is three years older, took up flying a few months after his younger brother, who became an airman in 1912. Sir Geoffrey Salmond was educated at "Wellington College and the -Hoy a I Military Academy, Woolwich, and later joined the Royal Artillery. He served in the South African War and in ttio Great War from beginning to end. He commanded the No. 1 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, in 1915, and the sth Wing the following year. Ho commanded the Roval Air Force in the Middle East from 1916 to 1921. His successive Home appointments then were Director General of Supply and Research, Air Ministry, and Air Member Supply and Research, Air Council. From 192/ to 1931, Sir Geoffrey commanded the Royal Air Force, India.
