TRADE NEGOTIATIONS
BRITAIN AND ARGENTINA LATEST DEVELOPMENTS (Receive April 3. 6.55 p.m.) LONDON. April 3 The Daily Telegraph says the latest proposal in the trade negotiations between Argentina and Britain is an Argentine loan from Britain for the purpose of releasing £10,000,000 of British money frozen in Argentina owing to exchange restrictions. Britain also is urging a reduction of the heavy duties on many British manufactures, says the paper. It was hoped that Argentina might give preferential treatment to some imports, but now it is recognised that Argentina cannot abrogate the most-favoured-nation clauses in her several treaties. Argentina's negotiators have been working to ensure that the quota system on meat shall be worked in such a manner that any increased prices will find their way back to the stock grower.
