TIVOLI-.THEATRES : Barbara i Stanwyck, the 'actress of many recent films, including " So Big," has ! a ' typical role in " The Purchase Price," which, with "-You* iSaid a Mouthful," will be screened for tho •last -time at the- Roxy and Tivoii Theatres to-day. Joe E. Brown appears in " You Said a Mouthful." Another splendid double-feature programme will be presented at the theatres to-morrow. It comprises ' two entertaining productions,'- " Stranger in : Town " and '' Central Park," .and each ' i$ an .entertainment in itself.-. The,, players of " Stranger- in -Town " are' Chic Sale, Ann Dvorak and David' fanners. The story on which the film is phased, is set in Nebraska, and the talking play opens r in the days of the pioneers:, pu.t marches swiftly to modern_ times. concerns the riiisunderstandings between a newlymarried couple, when the husband (David Manners) competes with his wife's grandfather in business. The second attraction, " Central Park," is a drama of human interest. PLAZA THEATRE Tom Walls gives a splendid performance in ''-Leap Year," which is still attracting large audiences '.to the Plaza Theatre. .His every, intonation of. voice, his every gesture conveys a wealth of meaning. Althcwgji- Mr. Walls dominates the film'with hig . sly wit and delightful charm, of. manner Miss Anna Grey gives a performance which for sheer beauty and appeal it -would' be difficult to equal. The subsidiary films include an interesting issue of the Cinemagazine and a splendid picture dealing with the life and habits of the heron and other birds. REGENT THEATRE " Whoopee " and " Palmy Days " proved than an Eddie Cantor film produced by Samuel Goldwyn implies all that is most .entertaining in screen musical comedy. . " The Kid From Spain," which is meeting with phej nomenal success at the Regent Theatre, is even more delightful than - the two succeeding pictures. Cantor ' revels in the part of an expelled student who poses as a bull fighter to outwit detectives who pursue him to Mexico. It is all comedy of the most amusing description. CIVIC THEATRE Warren Willi-am, remembered for a succession of portrayals of big business men, notably in. "Beauty and the Boss " and " Skyscraper Souls," gives a vital performance in " The Match King," which heads the programme at the Civic Theatre. It is based on the life of Ivar Kreuger, whose exploits amazed the world. In a role which was previously offered to Greta Garbo, Lili Damita acts very much after the manner of the. famous Swedish tragedienne.
