A BOOKLET OF VERSE
Some 50 pieces of verse compose " A Medley of Thoughts " by Vera S» Jones. The title is apt, for the variety of therao is as notable as the endeavour to make each piece express a personal point of view. Humour abounds, but in more than ono effort is a pleasant revelation of sympathy with naturo and with the joy 3 and sorrows of human life. Ability to handle many verso forms is evidenced, without any undue caro for conventions. Freedom, rather than statuesque phrasing, is characteristic of tho whole. Occasional metrical lapses and descents to colloquial levels can be readily forgiven on this account. Interspersed are some musings by a quaint " Aunt Rebecca," in proso but by no means prosy. An interesting departure from print is the production of this little volumo by duplicated typing.
