WEATHER MAINLY FINE SHOWERS IN FAR NORTH The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A rather intense anti-cyclone covers New Zealand. A cy. clone of tropical origin is centred north of the Kermadec Islands. Indications are for north to north-west winds prevailing south of New Plymouth and Napier, strong about Foveaux Strait and elsewhere moderate but increasing. Light to* moderate south east to north-east winds north of New Plymouth and Napier. Seas rough about Foveaux Strait, elsewhere smooth to moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea, freshening north-east to northwest winds and smooth to moderate seas. The weather for the most part will be fine with cool night but warm day temperatures, some showers, however, in the far north and north-east and later about Foveaux Strait.
YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Fine summer weather with £»i changeable conditions prevailed yesterday, the light breeze varying between east-north-east and north. The sky was dull and cloudy in the morning and evening. The barometer rose during the morning "W and was steady after mid-day. Barometer, midnight, rising 30.251n, Midnight, Tuesday .. .. 30.201n. Temperature in shade yesterday (to mid- X night)— Maximum, 68deg,; minimum, EOdog. Wellington.—Overcast weather conditions prevailed yesterday morning but in the mid-afternoon the sun broke through and the remainder of the day was bright and warm. There was a light breeze from the north. Christchurcb.—A frost: of six degrees yesterday morning was followed by fine but cloudy weather and a light north- «. east breeze. The maximum temperature * was 62 degrees. The barometer fell slowly to 30.20 in. in the evening. Dunedin.—The weather yesterday was very mild and pleasant with a light .f breeze from the south-west; The barometer registered 30.45 in. in the evening.
